We've been busy!

I can't count the number of times I have opened the blog to write a post, only to be pulled away from the blank screen by a torn book page or a paper cut crisis. This is not including the two times I clicked wrong and deleted everything I had done. Arrrrgh! Never a dull moment, that's for sure. Nevertheless, we have been busy this week and the students have really helped me with remembering things when the craziness seemed to get the better of me. I would like to apologize for last week's spelling test. It has been graded since Tuesday, and...they have never made it off my desk. They will go home today and hopefully today's test will be with it.

Tasting Grapefruit
Last week we read Poppleton and the Grapefruit from our reading book. This is a funny story about a pig who desperately wants to like grapefruit because he heard on TV that it would make him live longer. The only problem...Poppleton HATES grapefruit. It has been my experience that a lot of the students have never tasted grapefruit when we read this story. So, on Tuesday we did just that. we looked at, smelled, and touched our grapefruit in order to write good descriptions of them. Finally we took a bite! Wow! The kids had some really good ways to describe the way it tastes! Below you can view a video of our experience.

Math Masters!
We continue our study of numbers up to 1000. This past week we have worked on expanded form. We will have a test over Unit 2 that includes expanded form on Monday!
